WHAT OUR PARENTS SAY
THE ANNUAL SMILE FOUNDATION DENTAL MISSION TRIP
Each year, Dr. Lauten Johnson and a team of volunteers travel to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, off the coast of Cancun. Here, the volunteers treat hundreds of smiles in the dental clinic at the island’s community center. Services such as dental cleanings, X-rays, examinations, extractions, and necessary medication are offered to the hundreds of Isla Mujeres locals who could not otherwise afford proper dental care. In addition to treating patients in the clinic, the team has been able to perform dental screenings for students in multiple elementary schools across the island. We cannot smile big enough about the remarkable impact the Smile Foudation team has made by educating and serving the gracious people of Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
Please continue to pray for The Smile Foundation’s efforts and follow our pages to receive updates about our trip:
The Smile Foundation mission trips would not be possible without the support of our patients. Thank you to everyone who has allowed us to keep serving the people of Isla Mujeres. Our staff and The Smile Foundation members would like to also thank our generous sponsors for donating dental supplies year after year.
Dr. Skelly Kreller
“Mission work brought me to dentistry”, says Dr. Johnson. Before attending UAB Dental School, Dr. Johnson participated in dental mission trips to Peru, Mexico, and Costa Rica. “Dental care is of such great need everywhere but not accessible in many countries which is why I think that it is important to do this trip annually”.
Donate to The Smile Foundation for future mission trips.
